The first products

A virgin market

Our story begins in the hectic market of Milan during the 1980s, when the very air itself seemed full of promise. The city still inspires a desire to create, and every idea seems possible. In the 1980s, the digital revolution was just dawning.
This was where Tucano was born. The company looked closely at the rise of personal computing and saw an effectively virgin market. Tucano launched some products for carrying the first portable computer in history: the now-legendary Apple Macintosh Plus, designed by Steve Jobs and his team.

We are talking about a world of true pioneers, but Apple’s fans at the time took notice of Tucano and sales quickly rose.
The focus on Apple products was therefore an early contribution to Tucano’s DNA.

The mouse mat

Apple’s personal computers were sold with a mouse, so Tucano became the first Italian company to produce mouse mats. Colourful and customisable, this simple accessory was also the most popular, and one that helped Tucano’s brand become recognised by everyone.

Coloured computer bags

The 1990s saw the first truly portable computers. Tucano was ready, creating its Computer Comforts range, the first complete range of computer bags. The shock-absorbing interior was subsequently improved, introducing internal partitions, spaces and pockets designed specifically for cables, mice, chargers and other accessories. During this period, notebooks were still very expensive and primarily sold to businesses for work, so it is no surprise that the market was saturated with serious greys and blacks. Tucano broke with this tradition by offering coloured bags too, with immediate success.
